Butterfly – Cairns – Captured by Catherine
The Blue Ulysses Butterfly, symbol for Tropical Queensland, can be seen up to 30m away. The ulysses butterfly is one of the most biggest butterflies in Australia and is commonly known as the Blue Mountain Butterfly.
When flying the brilliant blue colour can be easily seen. When not flying or feeding they close their wings any they are camouflaged with a dull brown colour under their wings.
There wingspan is 100 – 130 mm (9 cm).
